Ark Law Case Update

Working as a team with instructed counsel from Essex Court Chambers Duxton (Singapore Group Practice) and Yu Law, Ark Law scored a resounding victory for our clients, an online options trading platform, and its founder and shareholder.

In a written decision dated 31 December 2020, the Singapore High Court struck out the plaintiff’s action against our clients. The Court held that it had no jurisdiction to hear the plaintiff’s claims for more than US$11 million our clients, and that Belize, and not Singapore, was the proper forum for the plaintiff to be pursuing his claims. In any event, the Court found that the evidence did not in fact bear out the plaintiff’s allegations of fraud or conspiracy.

The decision is reported as Chen Yun Hian Christopher v BHNV Online Ltd and others [2020] SGHC 284 and has also been the subject of media coverage.
